tert-Butanol, available in 99%, 99.5%, and 99.9% concentrations, is produced via direct hydration of isobutylene or as a by-product of propylene oxide manufacturing . It features excellent solvency power, complete miscibility with water and most organic solvents, and exceptional chemical stability as the simplest tertiary alcohol . As a unique branched alcohol with a compact molecular structure, it is widely used as a chemical intermediate for the production of isobutylene, MTBE, and various tert-butyl derivatives, as well as a solvent in pharmaceutical and industrial applications . Its high purity and consistent quality make it ideal for critical applications requiring precise solvent properties. Each batch is rigorously tested using GC analysis to ensure consistent quality meeting industrial and pharmaceutical standards.

Scope of Application

  • Used as the primary raw material for the production of high-purity isobutylene through dehydration, which is essential for butyl rubber and other polymers ;

  • Acts as a chemical intermediate for the synthesis of tert-butyl esters, tert-butyl ethers including MTBE and ETBE fuel oxygenates, and tert-butylphenols for antioxidants and polymerization inhibitors ;

    Product Features

    What makes tert-Butanol unique among the butanol isomers?
    tert-Butanol is unique among the four butanol isomers (n-butanol, sec-butanol, isobutanol, and tert-butanol) due to its tertiary alcohol structure. This structure results in several distinctive properties: complete miscibility with water (unlike the other isomers which have limited water solubility), a high melting point of 25-26°C requiring temperature-controlled handling, resistance to oxidation (tertiary alcohols do not oxidize to aldehydes or ketones under mild conditions), and unique reactivity patterns in dehydration and etherification reactions .
