Triethylene Glycol, available in 99%, 99.5%, and >99.9% concentrations, is produced as a co-product during the hydration of ethylene oxide to manufacture ethylene glycol . It features excellent hygroscopicity, a very high boiling point, complete miscibility with water and many polar solvents, and extremely low volatility . As a straight-chain trihydric alcohol with two ether bonds, it is larger than monoethylene glycol (MEG) and diethylene glycol (DEG), resulting in a higher boiling point, density, and viscosity . Its high purity and consistent quality make it ideal for critical applications requiring precise chemical properties. Each batch is rigorously tested using GC analysis to ensure consistent quality meeting industrial standards .
Scope of Application
Used as an important non-volatile industrial solvent and a key dehydrating agent in the natural gas industry to remove water vapor from raw natural gas streams due to its hygroscopic nature and high boiling point ;
Acts as a raw material in the production of polyesters, polyurethanes, plasticizers, and other polymers, improving flexibility and processability ;
Widely applied in printing inks, varnishes, coatings, and pastes, enhancing flow and leveling properties ;

Triethylene Glycol is manufactured as a co-product of ethylene oxide hydration. The product features excellent hygroscopic properties and complete water miscibility, with a boiling point of 285°C providing exceptional thermal stability for high-temperature applications . Its molecular weight of 150.17 g/mol and specific gravity of 1.12-1.13 g/mL at 20°C offer predictable handling properties . The product exhibits complete miscibility with water, alcohols, benzene, toluene, and many organic solvents, while being slightly soluble in ether and insoluble in petroleum ether .

Safety and Storage
✦ The product should be stored in a cool and ventilated warehouse and kept away from kindling and heat sources.

✦ The storage area should be equipped with emergency treatment equipment for leakage and appropriate containment materials.
