Your One-Stop Chemical Solvent Supply Expert - Richnow Chem
Methyl Chloride, available in 99.5% and 99.9% concentrations, is produced via advanced methanol hydrochlorination technology using hydrogen chloride and methanol or through methane chlorination processes . It features high chemical reactivity, excellent methylating properties, and stability as a liquefied compressed gas . As the simplest chlorinated methane compound, it is widely used as a methylating agent in the production of silicones, methyl cellulose, agricultural chemicals, and pharmaceuticals . Its high purity and consistent quality make it ideal for critical applications requiring precise chemical properties. Each batch is rigorously tested using GC analysis to ensure consistent quality meeting industrial and pharmaceutical standards .
Scope of Application
Used as a key methylating agent in the production of methyl chlorosilanes, which are essential intermediates for silicone polymers and silicone fluids ;
Acts as a raw material for the synthesis of methyl cellulose, hydroquinone dimethyl ether, methyl mercaptan, and other methylated organic compounds ;
Widely applied in the pharmaceutical industry for the production of local anesthetics and as a methylating agent in drug synthesis ;
Functions as a blowing agent in the production of flexible polyurethane foams and expanded polystyrene ;
Serves as a solvent and extracting agent for rubber, resins, oils, and organic compounds ;
Used as a refrigerant (R-40) in specialized cooling applications ;
Acts as a chemical intermediate for the production of methylene chloride, chloroform, and carbon tetrachloride ;
Functions as a laboratory reagent for organic synthesis and as a calibration standard for gas chromatography ;
Used in the production of tetramethyl lead (antiknock agent) and quaternary ammonium compounds ;
Serves as a low-temperature solvent for butyl rubber polymerization and other specialty polymer applications .
Product Features
Methyl Chloride is manufactured using advanced catalytic hydrochlorination and purification technologies, ensuring consistent quality and precise purity control.
