At ambient temperature and pressure, it exists as a colorless gas with a pungent, ether-like odor ; below 54°F (12.2°C), it condenses to a colorless, volatile liquid . Its molecular weight of 64.5 g/mol and liquid density of 0.89-0.92 g/mL at 0-25°C offer predictable handling properties . The product exhibits limited solubility in water (0.574-0.6 g/100mL at 20°C) while being readily soluble in ethanol (48.8 g/100mL), ethyl ether, and most organic solvents .
